AIM: To equip participants with the skills and knowledge for working with self-harm
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Better understand their own attitudes and feelings around working with self-harm
- Have learnt about psychologically informed ways of understanding self-harm
- Have learnt about recommended best practice, e.g. harm reduction
- Have practised skills for helping
This one-day course is suitable for anyone coming into contact with a person who self-harms, either in a working or personal capacity. Making use of best practice guidance, research and other perspectives, the course will consider contemporary ways of understanding and working with self-harm. The course uses a number of learning activities (for example: presentation, group work, reflection and skills practice) to help participants develop their understanding.
