Liaison and Diversion

We are seeking volunteers to support service users who have had recent contact with the criminal justice system in Hull and East Riding, Grimsby and Scunthorpe, North East and North Lincolnshire.

Do you have a few hours to spare each week?

We are looking for volunteers who can provide support to service users who have identified vulnerabilities and support needs, that have had recent contact with the criminal justice system.

The Liaison and Diversion Service is a collaboration between Community Links and Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, operating throughout Humberside, which aims to reduce reoffending.

Engaging with service users, volunteers will liaise with our Support Time Recovery Workers to provide a supportive relationship that enables the person to access specialist services to address vulnerabilities and support needs identified on their care plan. This intervention is also intended to build confidence and self-esteem so that the person is better placed to take on more ownership and management of their own care.

Ideally you will have access to your own vehicle, although the service will endeavour to allocate service users which are realistically accessible within a geographic location, and some support will be conducted over the phone. Where travel is required expenses will be paid.

Typical vulnerabilities identified during initial screening by our NHS colleagues include mental health needs, drug or alcohol dependence, housing and benefits.

We encourage those with lived experience, undergraduates studying a related subject or those who would like to have a positive influence on their local communities to volunteer.
