Attendees will be supported and equipped to be able to:
- Recognise and respond to the signs of Mental ill-health
- Explore intersectionality
- Learn culturally competent and inclusive approaches
- Understand impacts of trauma and structural inequalities
Participants will also:
– Have thought about what we mean by culture and its significance.
– Have examined some mental health inequalities and factors
underpinning them.
– Been introduced to a trauma informed approach to cultural
competency.
– Have reflected on their own practice.
Training is taking place online
Day 1: Tuesday 24th September – 09.30 – 13.30
Day 2: Tuesday 1st October –09.30-16.30
Days 3: Wednesday 2nd October –09.30-16.30
This qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider, giving you:
- An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
- Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
- Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
- Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
- Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support
Please note: This is a combined course and attendance is required at all session and location swaps cannot be made mid-course. This training is being funded by Forum Central & West Yorkshire Health & Wellbeing Hub for: Frontline staff, Volunteers & Peer Support Mentors, working within a Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise. we are keen to ensure those attending meet this criteria.
