The Community Links REST Stop Service (RSS) is a short-term crisis support service for people in Kirklees. Working closely with South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust (SWYPFT) and other agencies, the REST Stop Service (RSS) operates 24/7 and provides its guests with a therapeutic, person-centred alternative to hospital admission for people experiencing mental health crises.
Based at Trinity Street in Batley, RSS provides short stay accommodation of up to a week for a maximum of four individuals. The RSS is aimed at individual guests who are experiencing a mental health crisis and who have been assessed as not requiring a hospital admission but who would benefit from some intensive support away from their usual place of residence, enabling the guests to de-escalate their crises and support them on their recovery journey.
The RSS team is on site 24/7 to support people experiencing a mental health crisis who are aged 18 and over as guests of the service.
Prior to acceptance by the RSS and arrival at the premises, all guests will have been fully assessed by a registered health professional from the South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust Intensive Home-based Treatment Team.
Our aim is to ensure that guests are actively involved in determining the support and care they require and our team will support their recovery journey by helping guests to:
De-escalate their current crisis
Learn new coping strategies
Develop a crisis support plan
Choose other networks and services to be referred to
Re-engage with their families and/or support networks in their communities.
During their stay, guests will have regular 1:1 sessions and also be encouraged to take part in group activities.
Where guests require access to clinician during their stay, RSS will work in partnership with the Intensive Home-Based Treatment Team at SWYPFT, who will provide clinical care to guests.
We utilise a person-centred approach and work collaboratively with our guests to support them with their recovery goals.
We take a therapeutic approach with an emphasis on guests’ autonomy, while providing them with a safe, friendly and comfortable environment.
The team at RSS has a service manager, a team leader and a few support workers who are all specially trained to work with our guests.
To access the RSS all referrals must go via the Intensive Home-based Treatment Team at SWYPFT where people will receive a full assessment prior to becoming a guest of the RSS.
To settle our guests for their stay with us, the RSS receives guests between 8am and 8pm.
