Community Links are Happy to Translate

We are the first mental health charity to be Happy to Translate!

Community Links  has become the first mental health charity in the UK to sign up to Happy to Translate, an initiative which helps service providers to communicate with service users by overcoming language barriers. Being a member of Happy to Translate underpins our focus on customer excellence and complements our existing suite of equality accreditations already in place.

Donna Gooby, Director for Equality & HR said: “Community Links is committed to ensuring that our services are made available to everyone, regardless of language or culture. Becoming a member of Happy to Translate reinforces our commitment to finding solutions to reach and provide services to those communities that may otherwise be marginalised, making sure that they feel confident to access the information and obtain the services they need.”

Happy to Translate has members from across a wide variety of members from different industries. However, we are the first member organisation with a focus on mental health.

Rohini Sharma Joshi, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Manager for Trust Housing Association and manager of Happy to Translate said: “We are delighted that Community Links has decided to demonstrate their commitment to overcoming barriers to communication by signing up to Happy to Translate. The charity is joining a group of forward thinking organisations that wish to go ‘above and beyond’ in their aim to include those who can sometimes face barriers when accessing information and services.”
