Brain in Hand Wins Prestigious Award

We are delighted to announce that Brain in Hand has won a prestigious Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) Healthcare award.

Brain in Hand, a digital project the Community Links Engagement and Recovery (CLEAR) service runs in Kirklees, in partnership with Kirklees Council and the NHS, supports people who need help remembering things, making decisions, planning, or managing anxiety.

The programme is not tied to any specific condition, but is commonly used by people who are autistic or who are managing mental health challenges. Brain in Hand combines technology and human support to help people become more independent and confident in managing their lives.

The £800,000 award will allow the project to test and develop an approach for wider use in health and social care.

Jenny Macleod, Service Manager for Community Links Engagement and Recovery (CLEAR), said: “This fantastic news means we should be able to support more people to live the lives they want and deserve. We look forward to seeing how Brain in Hand develops with this new funding.”

Dr Louise Morpeth, CEO of Brain in Hand, said: “We are delighted by this SBRI award and the very encouraging comments of the reviewers of our application.

“The award will fund invaluable research and development work to test and improve our digital support solution. This shows there is appetite for a scalable, holistic support system to help autistic people live more independently. This work will also show the potential of Brain in Hand for people with learning disabilities and those living with anxiety-related mental health conditions. We are very much looking forward to the journey ahead.”
