Anti-Racism

As part of the organisation’s commitment to Anti-Racism, the Inspire North Board have released a statement to confirm our dedication to the agenda and maintain the organisation’s accountability.

At Inspire North, we are committed to becoming an Anti-Racist organisation. We know that racism causes trauma and pain to communities who are subject to racial bias, and it is our responsibility as a provider of many different services to make sure we educate ourselves and others to become Anti-Racist.

Since the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020 and the disproportional effect the COVID-19 pandemic has had on our Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority communities, we have seen how deep rooted societal racism is in the UK.

We know that racism is structural and institutional, it is systematic. We also know that to make sure our Anti-Racism work has meaning and value, we must be able to question our own roles in perpetuating racial inequality in the charity sector.

Inspire North is committed to taking an Anti-Racist approach across all our services and organisation. We know that we need to be so much more than ‘not racist’ to become Anti-Racist. To truly be a part of dismantling racism we need to be prepared to call out all racism, structural and individual. We will actively fight against white supremacy, and we will not be bystanders.
We will continue to share our Anti-Racist work, particularly from our Anti-Racist steering group chaired by our CEO and our employee/client survey’s, to hold ourselves to account and help others to continue their Anti-Racism journey.
