Sustainment - Mental Health Housing Support Service

The sustainment service a flexible and client-centred service to people with a range of mental health problems and other support needs.  Support is geared towards the person achieving a successful independent tenancy and living a fulfilled life.  We offer floating support to people in their own accommodation.

We provide support to people with complex needs on a longer term basis. The emphasis is still around promoting independence, but it is recognised some people need support for longer than 2 years.

Support is usually one-to-one and helps people to access psychiatric and other services.  The service also provides: emotional support; guidance and advice; advocacy (speaking out on a client’s behalf); practical help including budgeting skills and managing and maintaining housing needs.

The service encourages people to be as healthy as possible both mentally and physically, and enables them to be independent by identifying their strengths, resources, and aims.

We a high quality city-wide service with a variety of services including: Markham Avenue drop-in (mainly for Black African and Caribbean clients), and Little London drop-in service available to tenants in flats locally.

Additional specialist workers are available for the following groups;
• Single parents with children, including a South Asian support worker
• African and Caribbean people, including a women’s worker
• South Asian people, including a women’s worker
• Clients with substance misuse issues
