Youth Mental Health First Aid
Youth Mental Health First Aid is a new national two day course aimed at people working or living with young people (aged 11-18) who may be experiencing mental ill health. Community Links is one of the first providers of this course in the country. Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches people how to recognise and respond appropriately to signs of mental ill health in young people. It does not teach people how to be therapists, but does teach people what to say and do if they are in a situation where a young person is in distress. The aims of the course are:
- To preserve life where a young person may be a danger to themselves or others
- To provide help to prevent the mental health problem developing into a more serious state
- To promote the recovery of good mental health
- To provide comfort to a young person experiencing a mental health problem
- To raise awareness of mental health issues in thecommunity
- To reduce stigma and discrimination.
We are now taking bookings from individuals and groups for this course. For more information please visit
