Mental Health First Aid endorsed by Minister for Yorkshire & Humber
Rt. Hon. Rosie Winterton MP (Minister for Yorkshire and the Humber) has praised the effectiveness of the Mental Health First Aid course which is being delivered by Community Links across the region. MHFA is a two day, nationally recognised training course aimed at all sections of the public. Community Links is offering the training throughout Yorkshire and the Humber at a subsidised rate with the aid of a grant from the Big Lottery Fund.
“This much-needed scheme helps in identifying someone with mental health problems before professional help is sought.”

Services praised in major review
Two of Community Links' major services have been reviewed in depth by commissioners, and both have come through with flying colours. The Home Support Service for 16 to 64 year olds and Oakwood Hall, a registered nursing home, were both praised. The Adult Social Care department of Leeds City Council, together with NHS Leeds, undertook service reviews as part of their joint mental health strategy for Leeds. The review team described the staff teams at both services as "highly committed, caring and dedicated to their service users" and commended the teams for "their hard work and professionalism". The review team also commended Community Links for "the unique and creative ways in which they engage service users in all aspects of their service." Jon Woolmore, Community Links' Chief Executive, said: "We are delighted to see the achievements of two of our established services recognised by the commissioners. Service users are central to helping Community Links continue to make services even better."
