About the service

Oakwood Hall is a twelve-bed dual registered nursing and residential care home for people whose mental health needs cannot be satisfactorily met from other services.

We provide recovery focused, responsive care and support focusing on therapeutic engagement, meaningful daily activity and the opportunity to make positive change in the behaviours that have led to being excluded from other services. We provide 11 medium term residential placements for people with complex mental health needs and have a Respite service.

  • We are open 24 hours a day with waking night staff on duty.
  • We are a nurse led service.
  • The Management Team are made up of a Registered Social Worker and qualified RMNs.
  • We have a team of 7 RMN’s, 7 support workers and a chef.
Aims of the service

We aim to provide a culture based on tolerance and respect where people can:

  • Develop a sense of security and belonging,
  • Learn to respect themselves and others.
  • Learn about caring, sharing and contributing.
  • Recognise personal strengths and achievements.
  • Develop new skills and improve quality of life.
  • Work towards being more responsible for themselves and sharing in a more stable, independent and inclusive lifestyle.
  • Develop to their full potential and take an active part in their recovery.

We can support a broad range of clients e.g. with enduring needs, personality disorder, challenging behaviour and dual diagnoses. We offer an ‘inclusive’ service with a strong emphasis on developing a sense of community. Employees and residents contribute to maintaining a homely environment and participating in daily living activities.

Oakwood Hall is not suitable for those who are in an acute phase of illness, those who require the security of a hospital environment, those with a primary diagnosis of drug/alcohol use or whose severity of drug/alcohol use mitigates against communal living.

Clients move on from Oakwood Hall into more independent accommodation with support from other community services where required Support is delivered through a key working and support team system with full involvement of the individual. There are a minimum of 2 staff on duty 24 hours a day, at least one of whom will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).

Oakwood Hall provides a safe, stable, non-institutional and therapeutic residential environment in which service users are able to address those behaviours which have led them to be excluded from other services, engage in the rehabilitative process and develop to their full potential. This enables clients to move on to live more independently with an improved quality of life.

The service is open 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.
